A Letter from the Principal

Welcome to Spring Glen School, the home of “Panther Pride!”

We began our school year with three hundred and forty-seven students, who arrived excited and eager to learn!  Special welcome to our new students in grades K-6, and all of our new parents.

Spring Glen School is comprised of an experienced and dedicated faculty and staff that are ready to motivate and challenge our students.  We have a full schedule of academics and specials that include art, physical education, general music, as well as chorus and instrumental music for students in grades four through six, and library/technology skills.

We will enhance our positive school climate through many venues.  Our “Town Meeting” provides the forum to celebrate student accomplishments; please join us on alternate “B” days at 2:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.  Monthly, we will recognize and reward our students who exhibit positive behavior traits.

The “Principal’s Advisory” will give students in grades three through six an opportunity to be active members of our school community by helping plan school spirit events, organize community service activities and find ways to keep our school safe and clean.  Our monthly newsletter will keep all informed of classroom activities, PTA and school events.

We pride ourselves on the strong PTA support, which provides our students with excellent enrichment activities. They have generously donated their time raising money through varied events.  But it will also take strong parental support and student commitment for students to reach their highest potential.  You can help us in setting the tone this year, for an excellent educational experience in these ways:

  • Please make sure your children come to school on time every day, well rested, and with a healthy snack.
  • Check your child’s backpack each evening for notices and assignments.  Encourage them to complete their own homework in a designated area.
  • Read, read, read with and to your children whenever possible!
  • Be a role model in all social situations.  Remember we learn what we live, so always model the behavior you wish your children to emulate.
  • Attend “Town Meetings” every other “B” day.  Celebrate with us the accomplishments of all of our students.
  • Have a specialty?  Come and be a guest speaker in your child’s classroom.
  • Volunteer wherever you can… be a room mother/father, help at recess and lunch or in library, help in one of the many PTA activities.  Anyway you can contribute, no matter how small it is, will make a difference in improving our school community.

As your Principal, it is my honor and pleasure to serve the students, the parents and the staff of Spring Glen School.  Please feel free to call me with any questions.

Mrs. Vanessa Ditta, Principal
